All dressed up and no where to go...oh
well, might as well do the Poly Spray.
I'm glad I rigged the fresh air supply.
Painting in this booth would not be
possible without it. At one point while
spraying I had my hose separate and
was immediately forced to find fresh air
outside the booth. The Binks gun is
working great. I'm glad I got it as I would
be re-filling the pot every 2 minutes if I
stayed with teh little touch up gun.
The paint booth has been working
well. The heat has forced me to
keep my spraying to the early
morning hours. After it gets above
80 degrees, I add a little Blush
Retarder and it helps a lot. I can
control the temperature to keep it at
85 (with the AC unit) until it gets
above 100 degrees. I need to keep
the bottom of the garage door open
to allow for the fan to draw out the
over-spray. That hinders the
cooling. If you do this, set-up...buy
several filters as they fill up with
paint relatively fast. After a few
spraying sessions I need to change
the filter.
Elevator with the first coat of silver.
It is turning out ok, but this won't be a
prize-winning paint job. It looks OK
here but there are spots that certainly
show where I could have done a little
more iron work. Hope I learn from this
and do better on the fuselage. :>)
The rudder and elevator with
their first silver coats. The Hz
Stab is in the booth drying. Next
to do a little fine sanding and do
this again. Note the Rotax
engine patiently waiting for his
turn to play...Patience!! Heck, I
wanna put that sucker on and
start it!
