Carbon Fiber
Panel
After taking the panel out of the
vacuum bag, it needed some
trimming. I used the band saw to
get it close then went to an air
sander to work it for fit. Here it is
laying in the frame.
Many of the carbon fiber panels
you see are very glossy and I
wanted to stay away from  sun
reflection. I had a choice of
making it flat, semi-gloss or
glossy. This is the semi-gloss.
The finishes are determined by
the release paper you choose
for the lay-up
I will be using fasteners around
the perimeter which will work
great. Just need to determine
areas to cut out for the avionics.
It turned out to weigh less than
half of the .050 aluminum I had
previously cut out.
