I used this form finder to assist me in coving the edges of the fairing to fit the
wing. It worked ok.
Here you can see I got it close, but there were still a few small gaps.
In order to generate more surface area, I super-glued some strips of 1/8" ply
underneath. The super glue didn't seem to hold with the strength I wanted, so I used
a 5 minute / 2 part epoxy on them as well as to secure it to the wing. That worked
great.
I got ahold of some of these irrigating syringes. They are used in dentistry and work great
to get epoxy into tight areas. I have seen them sold at some hobby shops.
I have used the SuperFill epoxy several times throughout the build. Once
again I pulled it out to see how it would do around the outside edges of my
gas fairing. This stuff is nice because if you need to it will sand down.
I mixed the SuperFill and put it in a small sandwich bag then snipped the corner. I laid a bead
along the edge then one wipe of the finger. I'm happy with the way it filled in the small gaps
and tied it into the wing.
